Many of you have asked how you can help the Financial Planning Coalition protect American consumers. Please follow the link below [https://WriteRep.House.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml] to contact your Congressional Representatives. Let them know you support:
- Statutory recognition of the financial planning profession;
- Enhanced consumer protection through regulations that will help the public identify those competent, ethical professionals who should be subject to a fiduciary duty in the delivery of financial planning advice; and
- The creation of a professional oversight board for financial planners and advisers who provide broad-based financial planning or advisory services to consumers and those who hold themselves out as financial planners or advisers. This oversight board would establish baseline competency, practice, and ethics standards and would require that financial planners adhere to the fiduciary standard of care.

the editor of your local newspaper. Letters to the editor can be an
effective way to get the word out to your local community and also
help reinforce to legislative representatives that you are paying
attention to their votes in Congress.
