The three founding associations of the Financial Planning Coalition are independent organizations known for promoting high ethical standards and modes of conduct among their respective memberships. All three groups actively support consumer education and protection programs throughout the country. The organizations represent tens of thousands of financial professionals across the country, including industry leaders, educators, authors, and professionals committed to serving the best interests of consumers.
CFP Board
CFP Board is a non-profit organization that acts in the public interest by fostering professional standards in personal financial planning through setting and enforcing education, examination, experience, and ethics standards for financial planner professionals who hold the CFP® certification. Our mission is to benefit the public by granting the CFP® certification and upholding it as the recognized standard of excellence for personal financial planning. We currently regulate more than 60,000 CFP® professionals who agree on a voluntary basis to comply with our competency and ethical standards and who are subject to disciplinary oversight of CFP Board. Financial Planning Association
FPA is the leadership and advocacy organization for those who provide, support and benefit from financial planning.
Based in Denver, Colo., FPA has 96 chapters throughout the United States representing more than 25,000 members involved in all facets of providing financial planning services. Working in alliance with academic leaders, legislative and regulatory bodies, financial services firms and consumer interest organizations, FPA is the premier resource for the public to find a financial planner who will deliver advice using an ethical, objective, client-centered process. National Association of Personal Financial Advisors
Since 1983, The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) has provided Fee-Only financial planners across the country with some of the strictest guidelines possible for professional competency, comprehensive financial planning, and Fee-Only compensation. With more than 2,000 members across the country, NAPFA has become the leading professional association in the United States dedicated to the advancement of Fee-Only financial planning.
